The Book of Boba Fett, Almost 50 years after the original trilogy and Star Wars is still producing top-quality content

If you would have told my father in 1977, after the release of “Star Wars: A New Hope,” that he would still be able to watch new Star Wars content in 50 years, he would have laughed in your face.

And yet here we are. “The Book of Boba Fett” released its seventh and final episode on Feb. 9 and the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series is set to release May 25 on Disney+, 45 years to the day when “Star Wars: A New Hope” was released.

These shows are in no way as grand as the original trilogy and even the prequels. However, they have their own magic. Their own way of using the Force, if you will.

They add richer content to the already existing “Star Wars” world. They provide a glimpse into the lives of some of the galaxies’ most beloved characters. They are a window into what could have been.

“The Book of Boba Fett” is such a window. Temuera Morrison plays the most underrated character in the galaxy, bounty hunter Boba Fett, and the show follows him from the end of “Return of The Jedi” when he was eaten by the Sarlacc, to after his encounter with The Mandalorian in season two of “The Mandalorian” and then some.

The show provided content that “Star Wars” fans like myself didn’t know we needed.

The parallels from “The Phantom Menace” when Mando flew the pod-race course in a Naboo starfighter, the appearance of Ahsoka and R2D2, the near-perfect CGI for young Luke Skywalker, the similar shots from “The Empire Strikes Back” as Luke trained Grogu, the return of the rancor – it was like Christmas for seven weeks in a row. Wednesdays soon became my favorite days of the week.

The show hit the nail in the head and then some. It went beyond anyone’s expectations and set up for a well-anticipated season three of “The Mandalorian.”

My only critique is that I wanted to see more of Fennec Shand. Ming-Na Wen did a brilliant job portraying the coy bounty hunter, and it was truly amazing to see an Asian-American woman costar in a show of such magnitude, surrounded by a beautifully diverse cast.

And you can never go wrong when Danny Trejo makes an appearance.

As always, I eagerly await the next “Star Wars” content. And I can’t wait to watch it with my dad.

Rachel rating: 10/10.
