Will schools be open in the Fall? The latest from Governor J.B. Pritzker

By Thomas Gibbons

There is still a lot of uncertainty in the United States in the fight against COVID-19. Illinois extended their shelter-in-place order through the end of May. It further delays the opening of businesses, restaurants, parks, and other parts of the economy that were deemed ‘non-essential’.

Even when the states lift their stay-at-home orders, life is not going to go back to the way it was. Like President Trump outlined in his Opening Up American Again, there is going to be multiple phases to re-opening the country again.

One of the biggest questions around the United States is on schools and if they will reopen in the fall. In J.B. Pritzker’s daily press briefing on Sunday, the Governor says it is unclear if students and teachers will be in classrooms or continue E-learning in the Fall of 2020.

“I would prepare for both because it is so unclear,” Pritzker said. “Without knowing the answer, E-Learning is an important thing for us to develop.”
