The Dominican University Drag Show was held the night of Nov. 10 in the Social Hall.
Before it started there was loud music playing to hype up the audience while people piled in.
The performers came out and each performed a routine of dancing and lip syncing. There was a slight intermission and then they came back out and performed their second act.
Their song choices were lively and recognizable by the audience making it that much more fun.
Before the pandemic Dominican had hosted two drag shows. Andre Easton, then president of the Common Ground LGBTQ+ club, organized the shows. This year he was actually one of the performers, using the name Miss Rachel Slurrz.
This year’s organizer, PRISM (People Respecting Identity Sexuality and Mindfulness) President Olivia Kneip, praised the energy between the performers and the nearly 100 students in the crowd.
“I think this is the biggest lineup we’ve had yet, and they were definitely worth it,” she said.
Sophomore Callum Moran was in the audience, and agreed with Kneip’s assessment.
“I’m really happy I stopped by the show,” he said. “I ended up having a lot of fun.”
The performers returned the praise.
Drag Queen Bleaux said Dominican students have a great energy.
There was a lot of interaction between the audience and performers. Some of them got on top of the tables to dance. Drag Queen Sasha Sota jumped off one of the tables and into the splits. This was one of the most crowd-pleasing moments of the night.
