This Spring semester welcomed back about 90% of students from the 600-strong fall 2022 freshman class, a percentage that administrators attribute to hard work and good advising.
Both faculty and staff from Student Success and Engagement worked hard to help students transition into their second semester, said David Perez, assistant director of first-year experience.
The size of the freshman was a record, according to statistics.
Freshman Daniela Zermeno praised her experience with advising,
“My experience with my adviser has been really good, so far,” she said. “I was able to get more insight on what my schedule should look like regarding my major. It was nice having someone to reach out to in case I had any questions about my requirements and schedule.”
Going forward, students should reach out sooner rather than later for advising, according to Maria Tiscareno, assistant director of academic advising.
The MyDU course search for next year will be available beginning Tuesday, March 1.
Perez said his office may replay an event from the fall, aiming to recognize students who register for classes early, and to congratulate them for the completion of their first full year as a college student.
