Rowan “Row” Almoaiber is taking on the role of SGA President for the 2026-27 school year. She has one priority in mind: making sure Dominican students feel heard.
The senior from St. Louis, MO, is pushing for more student involvement and advocacy during her time as president, while making herself a resource for the student body.
Almoaiber has held several leadership roles in her tenure at DU, including Resident Assistant, Peer Leader, Schmitt Scholar, and Women’s Basketball player.
“I’m super blessed and excited to be a part of the Dominican community like this,” Almoaiber said.
“I want students to know that I am a resource and not only their peer.”
Almoaiber’s freshman experience motivated her to be more engaged in campus life and in what the university has to offer.
“Honestly, as a freshman, I kind of fell behind,” Almoaiber said.
“I didn’t make as many friends as I wanted to, and I wasn’t as involved. Being a student athlete helped, but I wasn’t super involved, so I made it a priority to be more involved.”
Almoaiber learned from her experiences in her first year at DU and began to immerse herself in what the university has to offer.
“I kind of worked my way up the ladder,” Almoaiber said.
“I started with just being a Schmitt scholar, then to being an RA, then being a peer leader and now President of SGA.”
Almoaiber has several plans for the year, but her primary goal, through projects and events that she holds, is to focus on the DU student body.
“Honestly, I primarily want to advocate for students and whatever they need,” Almoaiber said.
“I want to show up for students and let them know that I am here to support them in every role I’m in.”
Almoaiber is frequently in the SSE, the gym, and around the residence halls. She does not want to be a stranger to any member of the student body.
“Students’ advice and feedback means more than they know,” Almoaiber said.
“They have a voice and people do listen to what they say. The more engagement the better.”
Almoaiber wants to see students, while getting involved in events run by SGA, setting up events of their own.
“I want students to come to events, host events, collab with other organizations and make sure students feel like they have a community here at Dominican.”
With Almoaiber at the helm of SGA, she hopes to create a campus where students feel involved and like they truly belong at DU. After finding her own place within the Dominican community, she hopes to help other students do the same.
