Letter from the Co-Editors

Dear Dominican Star readers,

Hello! Happy New Year! Despite the challenges and hardships of 2020, the Dominican Star has thrived from the dedication of our past editor Thomas Gibbons and support of the community. This year, Dominican Star news is proud to present you the promising editorship of Isabelle Schindler and Chelsea Zhao.

As co-editors of this semester’s issues, we hope to embody the Dominican Caritas et Veritas tradition to serve our university with helpful and truthful information, whether that brings anger or joy. Our January issue has stories from happenings within DU to topics of national importance.

From student worker benefits to the national day of racial healing, from COVID-19 vaccine to nutritional insights. We look forward to serving the community and bringing you the comprehensive information you need. And as Amanda Gorman said in the inauguration poem: “we lift our gazes not to what stands between us, but what stands before us,” we will prove to you our commitment in the future articles we publish.

We are also looking for people to write for an upcoming issue. We want reflections on people’s time during the COVID-19 lock-down. Anyone from the Dominican Community can put in an entry, a maximum of 250 words. You can email your reflections to either of us.

We are honored to be this semester’s editors and we wish you a safe and successful spring semester.
