The two-part theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” on Sept. 13 and the second part on May 5, 2022, will be called “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” Curator Andrew Bolton chose this theme for two reasons: “the main one was the fact that the American fashion community has been supporting us for 75 years, really since the beginning of the Costume Institute, so I wanted to acknowledge its support, and also to celebrate and reflect upon American fashion.”

After watching the MET Gala, there were many people who were disappointed in the designs. Some of the designs were not that great and they were very simple and boring to look at. But there were only a couple of looks (in my opinion) that were good.

Lili Reinhart: Lili Reinhart came to the MET Gala on her birthday in Christian Siriano and Jimmy Choo’s shoes. This is probably my favorite look from the MET since it features the official flower of all 50 states, which is probably the only one to go with the theme.

I personally think that this color and the style dress really suits her a lot and you can see that this style dress she wore a couple other times to the MET.

Rihanna: Rihanna came fashionably late to the MET Gala wearing Balenciaga Couture styled with Maria Tash, Thelma West and BVLGARI jewelry with her boyfriend A$AP ROCKY who came in ERL.

Rihanna’s look wasn’t my favorite but she made it look so good, if anyone else wore that people would hate it for sure.

Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid: Kendall and Gigi’s looks were my favorite because they went with really simple dresses that everyday people could buy to go to formal parties.

Lil-Nas X: My first thought was he was taking after Lady Gaga and learning how to make a grand entrance at the MET.

Madison Beer & Olivia Rodrigo: Madison Beer and Olivia Rodrigo both attended their first MET Gala on Sept. 13. Beer wore a stunning emerald green dress in the One/Of collection by Patricia Voto and added Lorraine Schwartz jewelry as the accessories. While the new pop star Olivia Rodrigo wore a black lace jumpsuit with a feather detail at the top by Saint Laurent.

Both Beer and Rodrigo were stunning and I did like Rodrigo’s MET look way more than her VMAs look from the day before. Her MET look complemented who she was.

Billie Eilish: Billie Eilish was one of the co-chairs at this year’s MET Gala and wore a stunning dress that was done by Oscar de la Renta and styled with Cartier jewelry. This look was definitely a show-stopping look at the MET.

Stunning dressing! The only thing I would do differently is have Eilish use a bold red color on her lips, since she was going for an old Hollywood theme, inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

Zac Posen & Debbie Harry: Zac Posen in Tom Ford and Debbie Harry in Zac Posen — I like this and it was a very good take on the American theme.

It is not my favorite look from the MET, but for the theme to be “America” it was an amazing look.
