The National Association of Colored Women’s Club gave healing chakra stones to students in the dining hall on Wednesday.
At this point in the semester, students can begin to feel fatigued and drained trying to balance midterms, work and social lives.
The National Association of Colored Women’s Club (NACWC) understood that and handed out healing Shakra pendants to students on campus.
Vice President, Kiasee Ray wants students to know the club hopes the stones give “good vibes only” in this stressful time.
“It’s been very stressful during this semester, so we just want to make sure we share good vibes and energy,” Ray said. “These are appreciation gifts for the hard work you all are doing.”
Students were able to pick a stone that was placed on a necklace and then into a small sealed bag with inspirational quotes.
The event was open to everyone on campus. The stones were free but NACWC accepted donations to raise funds for a scholarship for one student with financial need.
“If you want to donate to our scholarship fund to minority students on campus, it will be open in November and the deadline is in December,” Ray said. “Our goal is $300. We want to make sure students are not in financial debt.”
In partnership with an outside organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., NACWC is also accepting gently used clothing to send to Haiti.
“We are accepting donations until Friday [October 29] of lightly worn shoes, dresses we will turn into pillowcases, as well as old glasses we will be sending to Haiti,” Ray said.
The donation box is situated in the Center for Cultural Liberation.
