Correction/Clarification
In the May 6, 2020 story published on the Dominican Star digital edition, “Future of Automated Red Light Cameras in Illinois Remain Undecided” there were two errors.
The Star reported incorrectly that former State Sen. Martin Sandoval, D-Chicago, accepted $250,000 in bribes from SafeSpeed, LLC. This was an error.
In a plea agreement with the federal government Sandoval admitted engaging in corrupt activities and taking more than $250,000 in combined bribes. SafeSpeed was never named in the plea agreement.
The Star reported incorrectly that SafeSpeed is “still under federal investigation.” That was error.
