John Planek is ready to start his new position as an Athletic Director at Dominican.
The Director of Athletics is responsible for the management of the intercollegiate athletic program. This includes managing the academic success, budgets, coaches, facilities, healthcare, and travel of student-athletes.
Planek stated he was not nervous when taking on the new position because he spent his career in administration and intercollegiate athletics.
“I felt confident in my abilities to match the requirements of the job,” said Planek. “I am excited to take on this position because I think Dominican is positioned for success athletically and institutionally.”
At the college level, Planek was a baseball athlete and says he understands the experience of being a student-athlete in college. It is amazing to have someone with experience oversee our athletes.
He also has plenty of high hopes for Dominican’s athletes and wants to work hard to achieve his main goal.
“My goal is to give Dominican a premier Division III experience for our student-athletes while they successfully engage academically within our Dominican tradition,” said Planek.
We are honored to welcome John as our new director, and we know he will do great things for the athletic program. As we move into the winter season of sports, we are very excited to see what he has planned for Dominican.
