Chicago’s chapter of the national Catholic organization is celebrating their six-year launch anniversary this March.

Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2010 by Jennifer Baugh in Dallas, Texas.

What started with a small cluster of seven local chapters has since expanded to 27 chapters nationwide.

Becca Siar, president of Chicago’s chapter, says “the mission of YCP is to challenge, train, and inspire young adults who are in different professions to work in witness for Christ.”

The Chicago chapter was launched on Feb. 2, 2016.

“We foster Catholic identity, encourage community, and inspire action,” Siar said. “Some ways we do that is by hosting events like networking happy hours at different bars across Chicago, executive speaker series events, and panel discussions.”

The anniversary celebration will be held on March 7 at 625 W. Adams St. Chicago, IL from 6 to 9 p.m.

YCP is taking COVID-19 precautions for the event. A board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 25 evening to discuss final preparations and event details.

“Our title is ‘young catholic professionals’, but anyone is welcome to our events. We’ve had non-Catholics come before!” Siar said. “Anyone in their 20s and 30s, no matter what your profession is, can come and learn and meet many people from different professions to build a community together across Chicago,” Siar said.
