With the NACC regular season completed, the Stars are now looking to close the season with the NACC tournament as well as have ambitions to play in the NCAA tournament.
The women’s team season concluded last Saturday as they hosted St. Norbert College in the NACC tournament quarterfinals.
The Stars were eliminated after a 1-0 loss, which ended their season with a combined record of 9-7-4. They also finished fourth in the NACC regular season standings.
The men’s team is still alive in their hopes for a NCAA tournament berth.
The Stars finished the regular season with a third-place finish just behind Aurora University and Milwaukee School of Engineering who both tied for first place.
Dominican entered the tournament as the third seed and defeated Illinois Tech in a lopsided 6-1 victory.
On Oct. 31, the Stars traveled to face off against Aurora University in a NACC semifinal tournament clash.
After going up 2-0, it looked like the Stars were heading off to another tournament final. However, as with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Aurora managed to score twice, which tied the game 2-2.
The two teams were squared after overtime and the game was to be determined in a penalty shootout.
With Dominican up 5-4 in the shootout, Aurora tried to tie the score, but ultimately missed as Dominican won the game.
The men’s team now advances to Saturday’s NACC tournament final as the winner will be given an automatic pass to the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship.
The winner will be determined at this Wednesday’s semifinal game between MSOE and St. Norbert.
The NACC Tournament Final is set for Nov. 4.
