President Donald Trump will speak with the nation’s governors on Thursday about state’s plans to reopen their states. New guidelines for reopening the country are expected to be announced on Thursday according to President Trump.
As shelter-in-place remains the norm around the country, millions of people have filed for unemployment. 5.245 million more Americans filed first-time claims last week and brought the total to just over 22 million people, wiping out the job gains since the Great Recession of 2008.
President Trump has called this the “toughest” decision of his time in office. No question it is. Trump has consulted his health professionals, business leaders, and others about when to reopen the country.

As of Thursday morning, there were over 640,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the United States and over 31,000 deaths in the United States according to John Hopkins University.
In Illinois, Governor J.B. Pritzker said earlier in the week that he may adjust stay-at-home orders for May. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot thinks Governor Pritzker will extend the stay-at-home order stating that ” it’s going to be difficult for us to say, April 30, everything comes up.”
