Dominican University’s theater arts department presents a student production of “Mamma Mia!” during the weekends of Nov. 12-14 and Nov. 19-21.
“Mamma Mia!” is a Broadway musical romantic comedy that features pop songs by the Swedish pop group Abba. It takes place on a fictional island in Greece, just a few days before a wedding.
The first set of performances were Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. The second set of performances are Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium, located in the Fine Arts Building on Dominican’s campus.
Tickets are $18 for the general public, $15 for Dominican faculty and staff, and free for Dominican students as long as they show their student ID. All attendees must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to the event, or a Dominican ID in order to attend the show.
“I think ‘Mamma Mia!’ is a great show to come back to because it’s so much fun and everybody knows Abba music,” said Carlie Merola, a junior playing as part of the ensemble and the understudy for Sky, the fiancé of Sophie, the main character.
“I’m really glad that I get to be a part of it, especially with it being my first musical. I couldn’t have asked for a better show to be my first experience with the theater department.”
Tickets can be purchased at Dominican’s website, underneath Arts & Minds.
