Dear students, staff and faculty,
Welcome back to campus for the fall semester! Whether it is seeing familiar faces at the recent DU Fest, the lively social gatherings at Una Tarde En la Plaza or enjoying the remaining warm weather during the Latine Heritage Month, we are seeing a resemblance of normal.
None of these would have been possible without your resilience. Because as of Sept. 12, 93% students have been vaccinated, about 20% higher than the Cook County vaccination rate. Knowing this and the protective measures carried out by the administration is enough to make any returning students feel safer.
The flexible programming from all student organizations strengthened new ties despite the distance of our locations. Now, with more opportunities to see each other, reach out and bridge the chasm left by 2020, we welcome the transfer and first-year students to our campus.
The new semester also brought new changes to the Star. As you read through our new 11’’ x 17’’ issue, we hope you would be inspired to meet the staff who created the layout this Thursday 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. At our newsroom in the L stop, you will find the issues of the Star from 1998 all the way to 2021.
We hope to see you there and best of luck with all your Zoom, hybrid and in-person classes.
