Letter from the Editor

Dear Dominican University,

Where has the time gone? It feels like yesterday I was writing my first letter of the year to you all in August. Time sure does fly, even in 2020.

I want to address you all on something very important: our professors. Since we had to shelter-in-place last Spring, our professors have worked tirelessly in making our time at Dominican the best experience possible.

It is not easy having to move a class that was structured for in-person learning to online but our professors have made it work. It was extremely odd that for the first time in my life that I did not have in person classes last Spring. And I am sure it was hard on the professors too having to teach from a computer screen rather than through hands-on learning.

Yet, we finished the Spring semester strong amid COVID-19 and while there may have been hiccups along the way, our professors were there to help. Today, professors have extended their office hours and continue to accommodate students in any way possible.

Their hard work does not go unnoticed. So, thank you professors for being the absolute best!

In this issue, staff writer Chelsea Zhao speaks with Dr. Barrington Price on the latest COVID-19 dashboard and a new protocol going into effect this week. Copy Editor and staff writer Isabelle Schindler speaks to those involved with campus events and how those are functioning amid restrictions.

The DU Star is always looking for writers to join our team. If you have any interest in being a writer, editor, or designer, feel free to reach out to me via email.

Have a great week everyone!

Best,

Thomas Gibbons
