Dear Dominican Students, Faculty and Staff,
Happy Women’s History Month! What a wonderful time again to see the snow out of the way for the glorious sunshine. I think we all begin to feel a tinge of hope seeing everyone’s faces again on campus, after the lifting of the mask mandate since spring break. The Star is honored to have received 2nd place in the state for Front Page Layout and 2nd place for general excellence in print for 2022 in the Non-Dailies under 4,000 students category at the Illinois College Press Conference in downtown Chicago on March 18 –19.
For this month, I am especially thankful of all the strong women at DU. The tradition of the Rosary College has been to uplift women’s voices and education and it’s empowering to see our leadership and offices continue to support students of disadvantaged backgrounds. In this issue, you will read about our reporter’s coverage of female leaders who have demonstrated the Dominican spirit of grace and love, Caritas et Veritas, and illuminating insights to our campus.
Without further ado, read on and keep informed about all that’s happening in Dominican University and beyond.

Letter to the Editor
Hello everyone!
As all of you know, Ukraine is currently fighting the devil – Russia. While all Russian people are too scared to go out and protest, Ukrainian soldiers (including civilians) have to fight for their land and freedom. Ukraine is my homeland, it is where I was born and raised. My entire family resides in Ukraine and my heart is shattered. And I am not the only one. There are many Ukrainians at Dominican University that are going through the exact same thing right now. So I BEG you, please don’t be careless. This does affect everyone. This war is not against Ukraine, it is against the whole world and the concept of HUMANITY. Russia has committed a war crime, bombing children, hospitals, children day care centers, and just peaceful civilians. Ukraine is a strong nation, we always were, and now the whole world knows. But we need help!
Ukrainian diaspora has done the most to help Ukraine:
- Protested every day since Thursday
- Called senators, congressmen to take an action
- Donated money
- Many went to Ukraine to fight
- Many went to Poland to help with refugees
- Shared information
- Reported Russian propaganda
- Packed packages with humanitarian aid and military supplies, etc.
- We do the most we can. But we need you too. I am sharing the reliable resources where you can help Ukraine in fighting the evil:
- Instagram: share information (only from reliable resources): – @withukraine
- @kyivpost.official
- @thevillageUA
- @thewashingtonpost
- @svidomi
- @ukrainer_net
- Donate (please do not donate to organizations of you do not see it on this list, Russians have been trying to steal our donations by creating very similar websites):
- This google doc has all of the credible and reliable sources:
- DONATIONS FOR UKRAINE
- Savelife.in.ua https://savelife.in.ua/
– Protection of Ukraine, veteran rehabilitation, relief for the Ukrainian
soldiers’ families, etc
– ArmySOS https://armysos.com.ua/en/help-the-army
– Purchases of necessary ammunition, shields, intercommunication and reconnaissance facilities, uniforms, and food supply
– Razom for Ukraine https://linktr.ee/RazomForUkraine
– Call senators, congressmen to shelter the sky over Ukraine, so Russia stops bombing
peaceful civilians and children!
- Report Russian propaganda!
- Go to protests!
- Sign petition for NATO to shield our sky to help our soldiers fight:

- This is the least we can do, so please don’t disregard it. Thank you for your support.
- СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ! GLORY TO UKRAINE!
- ГЕРОЯМ СЛАВА! GLORY TO THE HEROES!
