How to Live Like a Gilmore

As autumn settles around us, so does the inevitability of watching Gilmore Girls either for the first time or for the millionth time. Whether you’ve never watched the 2000s show or have watched it more times than you can count, this show brings the full fall vibes that most try to achieve during the autumn season.  

Gilmore Girls explores the life of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory Gilmore, as they both navigate their small-town life, their dreams, and their family and friends. Living in the small, charming town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, the audience is intrigued by their life, and most of all, by their lifestyle. 

First aired on October 5th, 2000, every fall social media announces that its officially Gilmore Girl season, meaning that it’s yet another year to live your autumn life like a Gilmore. In order to live a Gilmore Girl lifestyle this autumn, this list can help serve as a guide of fun things to do to accomplish this: 

  • Drink coffee, coffee, coffee 

  • Stay on top of academics, and study 
  • Having family dinners (preferably on Friday night) 
  • Buying books (and always carrying one around to read) 
  • Going to coffee shops and ordering pastries (pie and Danish is preferred)  
  • Reading a newspaper (or writing for one)  
  • Listening to new music  
  • Watching movie classics 
  • Going antiquing  
  • Ordering takeout (preferably Chinese or pizza)  

Regardless of whether you’ve watched the show or not, it’s fun to pretend you’re a Gilmore for a day. What are you going to try?
