Dominican Stars Homecoming Soccer Games a Resounding Success

On Sept. 18, Dominican Stars Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams took on Lakeland University at West Campus Field for the homecoming game.   

The Women’s Soccer match started at noon with the Stars scoring three goals in the first half and finished off the game with two more goals to make the final score 5-0 for DU.   

The Stars had a total of 30 shots, compared to Lakeland’s two shots. The goals were scored by Freshman Ava Mascoe Talbott, Sophomore Sophia Bartridge, Juniors Dana Steffen and Regan Coxon, and Senior Ashleigh Huerta.  

Goalkeeper Ashley Ishman saved two shots, keeping a clean sheet for the DU Stars.  

The Men’s Soccer match started at 2:45 p.m. with a final score of 5-0. All five of the Stars goals were scored in the first half. Senior Giacomo Parrino ended the game with three goals, Sophomore Zachary Gamster and Freshman Matt Skorupa also had a goal each.   

Goalkeepers Hunter Faurbo and Bryan Grimaldo each played one half to combine for the clean sheet.  

Both teams play at home again against St. Norbert College on Oct. 2. The Women’s match starts at noon while the Men play at 2:45 p.m.
