Nearly a hundred Dominican students attended the Civic Learning and Career Fair last week, interacting with representatives from 23 organizations, including a few of Dominican’s departments.
Students wandered between tables in the social hall, gathering flyers, talking with representatives, and signing up for more information about possible future experiences.
“It went well. People were genuinely interested in the variety of opportunities,” said Dejah Mansfield, support center manager for the Information Technology Department.
The two-hour event was the first in-person Civic Learning and Career Fair since the 2019 fall semester.
“It was nice to see students interacting with organizations in person again,” said Paul Simpson, director for Civic Learning.
“It was difficult connecting students via Zoom,” he said. “Things get less transactional in-person, and it is easier for organizations to promote and for students to learn about new experiences.”
The Office of Civic Learning is looking to host another fair in the spring. They will also highlight more paid internship opportunities throughout the semester, starting as soon as next week.
