Sophomore, Ethan Shepherd, finds peace of mind and an active body at Dominican’s Fitness Center

“The Fitness Center allows you to have time to yourself and not worry about anything else in your life,” he said. “You can just go in, get active, and clear the mind.”

Hundreds of other students take advantage of the 3,300-square-foot center every day.

The workout space houses cardio equipment (treadmills, rowing machines, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, bikes, stair-steppers, cross trainer), multiple weight racks, and muscle-specific machines, including an overhead press machine, cable machines, a leg press, among other machines to be utilized.

Gavin Zappe, a sophomore, makes it a priority to attend the center multiple times a week to stay active, but also feels a sense of relief.

“[The fitness center] is really helpful because it has everything I could need and feels like a safe space that I can go use to get stronger physically and also help me clear my mind and refocus mentally.”

To have access to the fitness center, a valid student ID must be shown to the student worker at the desk. Current students, faculty, staff, and alumni are all welcome to enter.

The fitness center is open Sunday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, the workout center is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The hours are subject to change during times of school-issued breaks and holidays.
