Superhero fans anticipate any live-action movie portraying their favourite characters and Aquaman is no di erent.

During the advertisement state, Aquaman was extensively hyped up because of the previous mediocre lms by DC such as Justice League, Batman vs. Superman, and Suicide Squad.

It did not disappoint with IMDb rating it a 7.5 out of 10 and Rotten Tomatoes audience giving it a 4.1 out of 5.

Director James Wan did a decent job with an action-packed lm irting with romance along the way. It nicely sets up Aquaman’s origin story while allowing for the continuation of this character either in a sequel or in collaboration with other DC characters.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Amber Herd as Mera had great romantic chemistry that grew as the lm went along. This along with Momoa’s humour and other great performances done by Willem Dafoa as Vulko, Nicole Kiddman as Atlanna, and Patrick Wilson as King Orm make this movie very entertaining.

In terms of structure, the movie followed the story line based on the comics well with some exceptions being out of order. One of them being the referencing to Justice League. The lm references the event of Justice League in the beginning of the movie even though the emergence of Aquaman comes before Justice League.

The plot is well developed with Queen Atlanna’s love story and the coming up of half breed Arthur. As Arthur (Momoa) realizes the importance of being part of Atlantis after a supposed tragic death, he struggles with challenges for the thrown against his reigned brother, King Orm.

Aquaman ends in a typical final battle scene with a happy ending and aspiring romance. The chemistry portrayed by Momoan and Herd blossoms strongly throughout the film. The story between Kiddman (Atlanna) and Morrison (Curry) has an unexpected ending.

Overall I would rate this lm a 7/10. The movie was kind of predictable but still captured my attention. Superhero fans will appreciate the action packed- humurouse and slightly romantic lm succesfully directed by Wan.
