The New Year unfailingly inspires many to make a commitment to improve their lives. Losing weight and getting in shape is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions but one of the hardest to keep. While exercising is hard work, little things such as having fun and stylish workout clothes can make working out something to look forward to. Marissa Gray, a junior and nutrition major, shares her workout style secrets.

Q: Describe your personal style.

A: My everyday look depends on my mood, but usually I dress slightly edgy. I try not to get stuck in one particular style and have fun mixing things up.

Q: What is your favorite sportswear brand/designer?

A: I really like the Under Armour running line; they have a lot of cute prints and patterns. It is a bit pricier, but everything I own from this brand is of great quality. Other brands I like are lululemon athletica and Nike.

Q: What is your favorite work out accessory/trend?

A: The Vibram FiveFinger shoes are my favorite! They are so unique and comfortable, but sometimes I get some weird looks when wearing them.

Q: Why is it important for you to dress fashionably while working out?

A: If you feel good about yourself, you will perform better!

Q: Describe your go-to work out attire.

A: A pair of running tights and active tank is probably my go-to. I love the look!

Q: What factors do you consider when purchasing work out attire? (Ex: Price, comfort, style, etc)

A: Comfort is a huge factor for me. If my clothes are bugging me during a workout or run, it is a big distraction. I tend to stick with brands that focus on comfort. It’s always a plus when they offer cute styles as well!

Q: Which celebrities or fashion icons inspire your style?

A: I don’t have any specific fashion icons, but I get a lot of ideas off of Pinterest and Instagram when it comes to style.
