In the world of fashion, trends always come and go; however, there are some trends that seem to withstand time. One of those trends is philanthropy. Now, more than ever, being charitable is incredibly stylish and simple.
There are a variety of clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories that have been designed to endorse and support particular charities. Designers and celebrities around the globe are partnering with organizations to spread awareness and gain funding. By purchasing these designs, the consumers are not only receiving a stylish new addition to their wardrobe, but they’re also supporting a cause.
According to “Women’s Wear Daily” (WWD.com,) Michael Kors, an American clothing designer, recently announced a partnership with United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP). Kors intends to help UNWFP battle world hunger by launching the campaign, “Watch Hunger Stop.” This campaign will include a series of events and products geared at raising awareness and funds to end world hunger. Among these products are two unisex watches; each watch sold will feed 100 children in need.
Celebrities Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin have teamed up with the cosmetics line, M.A.C., to fight AIDS. The sale price of every item in their Viva Glam collection is donated to the M.A.C. AIDS Fund, according to macaidsfund.org. Products include lipstick and lip conditioner.
American label CrOp, by David Peck, picks a new charity every season to which he donates 10 percent of all of his profits. According to DavidPeckUSA.com, the designer will be donating this season’s profits to the Covenant House an organization that works to house and feed homeless children.
Many other designers and celebrities have contributed, and been attributed, to the success of many charitable projects and organizations. These figures are among the most influential philanthropists around the globe. As designers and celebrities use their prominence to battle our world’s dilemmas, their consumers play a substantial part in spreading awareness and donating funds when purchasing these endorsed products.
