‘I See What Was’ is an original poem by Maria ‘Mia’ Powell.

From the street,

In the window

Of an old home:

I see a vase

With one flower,

Long withered;

I see curtains

Once white,

Long yellowed;

I see a face

That no one else does,

Long dead;

I see what could have been;

I see what might have been;

I see the ghosts;

I see what was.
