The Dominican University Men’s soccer team defeated Lakeland College 5-0 and earned their first conference victory of the year. The Stars opened conference play two days earlier with a draw against Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Stars defeated Lakeland College on their home turf scoring four second-half goals and recording their second straight shutout. Sophomore Jonathan Arzeta and Freshman Alexander Lulek both scored two goals, while sophomore Adam Yaghmour added his second goal of the season. Junior Alex Rohder added three assists to the cause.
The Stars defeated their second straight NACC conference opponent, the Concordia Cougars, 1-0 in overtime. The Stars and Cougars battled through a scoreless 90 minutes with the Stars eventually breaking the tie to outlast the Cougars. Freshman Benjamin Ibarra tallied the lone goal for the Stars. Dominican’s keeper, Gabriel Gangora continued his strong play as he notched his third consecutive shutout; fourth of the season. The Stars improved their overall record to 5-2-2.
