The Dominican University Men’s Basketball team ended their season with a close seven-point loss on the road against Wisconsin Lutheran College. Even though they lost, the Stars battled hard and ended the season on a strong note.
The team’s last home game of the season was a seven-point win against MSOE; a difficult foe that they had lost to previously in the season.
“The game against MSOE was a really good win,” said Mark White, head coach of the Dominican University Men’s basketball team.
Sophomore Tim Robertson finished with a team high 29 points, while Josh Mayberry helped close out the win by scoring 24 points and dishing out 8 assists. The Stars hard work paid off as they pulled out this signature win.
“Everything came together; it was a total team effort, “White said. “It was a nice last home game to have.”
This win is an example of the necessary work the Stars put on and off the court. The hard work has resulted in the Stars playing better basketball the 2nd half of the season.
“One of the highlights of our season was that the team improved and developed,” said White.
Even though the team has improved, there is still work to be done. According to White the team needs to work on their overall strength. Individuals need to put in the work to get better and become well-rounded players. White recognizes that they also need to recruit players of size to the program.
The improvements this season are a sign of optimism and have made their goals clear.
“Our goal is to have a winning record,” White said. “Though our record doesn’t indicate it, we got good wins and had a lot of close loses against talented opponents; I am excited for next season and looking forward to the future of this program.”
