Men’s Volleyball takes on eleventh ranked team in country
The Stars took on the 11th ranked Lakeland College Muskies on March 12, losing in three sets. The men fought hard during each set, including a 33-31 game ending set. Zachery Sinn led the Stars offense with 16 kills, while Charlie Spry notched nine kills himself for the night.
What hurt the team the most was their sloppy play, where they committed 35 errors during the game. However, Alex Coyne managed to shine for the Stars, serving up a team-high 33 assists, while Brooks Nervly pitched in on defense with nine digs. As a team, the Stars posted 10 blocks.
Dominican falls below .500 on the season, with their record now at 9-10, 2-3 in the Continental Volleyball Conference with only seven games left in the season.
Stars softball sparkles in sunny Florida
The Dominican University women’s softball team kicked off the start of their season on a high note in Fort Meyers, Fla., leaving the state with a record of 8-4 while also carrying a four-game winning streak back home.
For the most part, the ladies have crushed their opponents, including an 18-0 win over Elms College (Mass.) and a 15-7 fireworks show over Northland College (Wis.)
Junior Allie Evans has led the way for the Stars with 16 hits along with 10 RBIs while freshman Alyssa Domico has chipped in with a .452 batting average on the year.
Sophomore Haley Locher has pithed fantastically so far into the season, tallying a 5-2 record, while also logging 29 innings and 14 strikeouts.
The Stars are set to square off against the North Park University Vikings on Thursday, March 20 in Chicago before heading to Milwaukee for a two-game road trip.
