The Dominican University Men’s Baseball team currently holds a 10-14 record with fourteen games remaining, and have their sights set on higher goals.

“Our short term goal is to be competitive in every game and our long term goal is to make the conference tournament and compete for a conference championship,” said Head Coach Steve Hardman.

According to Hardman the Stars must win six to seven more conference games in order to compete in the conference tournament. The Stars have shown plenty of heart so far this season and been in every conference game thus far making their goals every bit possible.

“I have been extremely happy with a lot of our guys play this season,” said Hardman. “Notably, freshman Mike Piotrowski, Colin Janison, and Cody Schuster have really emerged as our top guys right now.”

Piotrowski is currently leading the team in several offensive statistical categories; while Janison has been one of the better 2 way players in the conference, according to Hardman. Then there’s Schuster who has been a very consistent middle of the order hitter for the past three and half years, and who is currently one hit away from reaching a tremendous accomplishment.

According to Hardman, senior Cody Schuster is one hit away from being the all time hit leader of the Dominican University Men’s Baseball program. However, the Stars will have to put forth a unified effort moving forward.

“If we are going to accomplish our goal of making a conference tournament or better, we will need to have even more guys positively contributing down the stretch,” said Hardman.
