Several emergency vehicles from numerous local law enforcements were dispatched to the Des Plaines river March 8 in response to an abandoned vehicle found in the river.
Local police and fire responded to the river on Thatcher Avenue just south of North Avenue at 4:40 p.m. to find a car abandoned in the river. According to the Illinois State Police preliminary traffic crash investigation, the 2005 Silver Nissan Sentra struck the guardrail, rolled over and came to a rest in the Des Plaines river.
After a search of the area was conducted, divers were unable to locate a body. On March 9, rescue efforts resumed at 9:30 a.m. and at 12:09 p.m. the body of Christina N. Hill, 23 years of age of Chicago was found.
