River Forest police and the Cook County State’s Attorney office did not press charges on a man suspected of following a woman near Dominican’s Priory Campus.

River Forest police officers were dispatched at 8:27 a.m. January 17 at the corner of Harlem Avenue and Division Street near the Priory Campus after a witness called 911 on behalf of a woman being followed by a man driving a red sedan. The witness and victim both described the suspect as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, thin build with blonde hair wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.

RFPD investigators developed and contacted a person of interest, however the case was not referred or accepted by Cook County Attorney’s office. The investigation was cleared with no victim or witnesses to aid in the prosecution.

RFPD police officers said if anyone finds themselves in a situation where they are being followed or approached suspiciously, they should take actions to increase distance between themselves and the suspicious subject, get to a safe location and notify police.

Dominican faculty, staff and students who see anyone or anything suspicious are encouraged to call 911 or Campus Safety and Security at 708-524-5999.

Staff and students who feel the need to be escorted to their vehicles are encouraged to call Campus Security for assistance.
