In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Dominican presented a panel discussion entitled “And Justice for All: From MLK to Black Lives Matter”. The panel was held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Martin Recital Hall at 7p.m.
The panelists discussed how the civil rights movement of the 1950’s and how the Black Lives Matter Movement of today have ignited a call for justice across the country. The panelists are Duchess Harris, JD, PhD, author, activist, and professor and chair of American Studies at Macalester College, St. Paul, MN; Kadra Abdi, social entrepreneur, human rights advocate, and active participant in the Black Lives Matter movement in St. Paul, MN; and David Robinson, a Chicago community activist, political consultant and founding partner of SpherePRGroup.
Students, faculty and staff, as well as others from the Chicagoland area filled the Martin Recital hall to listen to the dicussion and ask the panelists questions afterward.
