This year in both fashion and beauty, trends have fully transitioned from neutral colors and matte textures to glossy and metallic hues. The trends are best noticed in the makeup and beauty industry as all colors and shades have become increasingly popular. Makeup has become a true medium of art. Brands such as Glossier and Colourpop are leaders in the industry regarding this shimmering trend. While matte hues are still classic and beautiful, the sparkling, glittery look will be the most popular this upcoming winter season.

Fashion has also adapted to this trend as well. Metallic leather jackets provide a space-age, futuristic appearance while also bringing a statement look to any outfit. Glittery boots and shoes can really create amazing looks as well. ASOS, an online retailer, keeps up-to- date on this trend and consistently offers a great variety of metallic and sequined clothes and accessories. If you are feeling creative, try decorating your own clothes and shoes! Craft stores sell shimmery beads, and by sewing or gluing these beads on your backpack, jacket, or other fashion garment, you can rock this trend by wearing pieces that you already own. Decorating denim is an especially trendy way to look amazing, too.

The best ways for a college student to create shimmery, statement outfits include wearing lip-gloss, metallic nail polish, metallic bomber jackets, and satin and velvet textures. Velvet and satin fabrics can be found in almost any clothing or shoe store this season. Black Friday sales are coming up, so be prepared to shop for this galactic trend!
