Fall Back Into Autumn

With school starting back up again, it feels like summer is quickly fading behind us. The days are getting chillier and the leaves are starting to change color. With that being said, it is time for us to start making some changes in our closets.

However, the transition between summer and fall can be a tricky time. Here is a perfect example of an early autumn outfit that is fit for those sunny days with a bit of a cooler breeze.

When picking out clothing for the fall, it is always a good idea to first think about color. Many different colors and shades are appropriate for different seasons. In this look, the outfit utilizes warmer and subtler colors, which are characteristics of fall–compared to the brighter colors we often see in the spring/summer.

Once a color scheme is decided, it’s a good idea to take a look at textiles, or fabrics. For brisker weather, thicker fabrics such as denim, corduroy, suede, wool, etc. are best. Taking another look at this outfit, you will see that both the jacket and the skirt are made from denim.

While this outfit could have been completed with a plain white shirt, vintage tees are gaining increasing popularity. Thus, a vintage tee that matches the warmer tones in the jacket was paired with denim pieces. This garment added more of a vintage vibe, a theme which can be played upon with the accessories.

In this case, the gold hoop earrings and circle lens sunglasses are glances in the past. To modernize and balance out the look, a trendy black backpack and black leather booties were added.

This look is perfect for going to class or for spending a day in the city with friends. It’s comfortable and functional, yet also fashionable and trendy. Many of these items can be easily found in malls or even thrift stores to obtain that true vintage feel.
