Possession of cannabis- At 1:42 a.m. on Oct. 2, an River Forest police officer observed a suspicious person cutting through yards near Hawthorne and Thatcher avenues. The subject was stopped and a field interview was conducted. Josiah R. Fiala, 20, 617 S. Lombard Ave., Oak Park, admitted to recently smoking marijuana and said he still had some in his backpack. Seven small bags containing eight grams of cannabis, a pipe and grinder were recovered from the backpack. Fiala was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Attempt retail theft-At 4:07 p.m. on Oct. 2, police officers responded to 7501 W. North Ave., Dominick’s, for a retail theft in progress. Andre C. Porter, 53, of 7458 W. 64th Place in Summit, was stopped at the door of the store after attempting to steal $387 worth of meat products. Porter was taken into custody and charged with attempted retail theft.

Theft report- At 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 3, an officer responded to Addison Hall at Concordia University Chicago, 7400 W. Augusta Blvd. to a wallet theft from the computer lab. The victim related that the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. the previous day and that she did not observe anyone suspicious in the area. The victim lost an identification and medical card along with an unknown amount of cash.

Disorderly conduct arrest- At approximately 9 a.m. on Oct. 8, an Oak Park juvenile victim reported that a male subject in a silver vehicle had approached her while walking to school and told her to get into his car. He then demanded that the victim get into the car again and she refused. The subject then drove away from the scene. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, officers located Hamad Hafiz Almarri, 31, 629 S. Harvey Ave.,Oak Park, as he pulled into the 1140 N. Harlem Ave. parking lot of a 7-11. Almarri told officers that he had attempted to give a ride to a female student the day prior. Almarri was transported to the station and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and has a November court date.
