Crime Blotter – February 2


A 58-year-old San Diego, CA, man was arrested and charged with battery in the 100 block of Washington Blvd. at 11:34 a.m. on January 18.

Cellphone theft

Four male juveniles, all Chicago residents, were taken into custody for allegedly taking a victim’s iPhone 5S and red case in the 300 block of South Blvd. at 8:04 p.m. on January 24. 

The offenders were stopped and taken into custody in the 100 block of Madison St. after the victim positively identified them. All four juveniles were transported to the station and later released to their parents or guardians.

Retail Theft Arrest  

At 7:59 a.m. on January 15, an officer was conducting a foot patrol in Jewel Foods and was approached by a store manager to reference a theft in progress. The subject attempted to flee the store with $111 worth of groceries but was taken into custody at the exit doors. The subject Eric Hart, 51, of Maywood was charged with Retail Theft, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing a Police Officer.

Attempted armed robbery

Broderick D. Cofer, 25, of the 3100 block of Bromley Lane in Aurora was arrested after allegedly striking a victim in the head with a rock and attempting to take the victim’s cell phone. 

The incident occurred at 11:51 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Oak Park Ave.
