As I begin this last “Shout Out” of the year, the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters are having our five-year planning meeting for our Sisters throughout the country and the world. The meeting (or “chapter” as we call it) is strengthening for us Sisters here at the University, making us even more deeply aware of our connection with Sisters everywhere. It makes us conscious of the strong support we give and receive in living the mission, which is known and lived at D.U. You and I are not alone: we are part of an international group seeking to pursue truth, give compassionate service and participate in the creation of a more just and humane world. You’re doing that through your studies, your community service and care for others, including deep respect for the diversity of our membership. Our life here is an important part of this worldwide Dominican mission.
Let us work harder this summer and next year to value the diversity we have the opportunity to know at D.U., and the wonderful relationships at the heart of our education.
Happy vacation! We will pray for you and your families this summer and will see you in the fall! Affectionately,
Sister Clemente and the Sisters at D.U.
